"Everybody gets hurt." Jim puts down the glass, his expression as grim as his pronouncement. "Good people, bad people. People that tried their damn best." His eyes are a little watery, and that must be the drugs, too, because Jim knows he did right by Spock, and he still lost him. The universe doesn't really care if people deserve what they get or not - it's probably why Jim's so hell bent on giving it the finger.
